Privacy policy

Key points

PaintBraille is designed so that the content of your work stays on your device. We do not receive your drawings, text, imported images or exported files simply because you use the editor.

We process some data to manage your account, give you access and keep the service secure.

During the pilot, PaintBraille uses first-party, aggregated product telemetry. It shows which parts of PaintBraille are used and whether they work, without creating an individual usage history.

Our goal is to measure the product, not the person.

We do not use this information for advertising, sell personal data, or use it to build an individual history of how you use PaintBraille; nor do we provide that history to a company or institution.

What data we use

Account and access

We can process your email, the information necessary to protect your password, the dates related to your account and the status of your access to PaintBraille.

We use them to create and manage your account, allow you to log in, regain access, and administer the service.

The legal basis is the provision of the service you request.

We retain this data for as long as you maintain your account or as long as it is necessary for the relationship with PaintBraille.

Product telemetry

During the pilot, the editor keeps a predefined summary of the session in memory and sends it to PaintBraille when the session ends. The summary may include the PaintBraille version, surface type and layout, the groups of features used, predefined image-conversion modes, counters for certain inputs and outputs, the number of finished tactile graphics, recovery states, and predefined categories of expected errors from those operations.

Among the functions that can be reflected in aggregate form are drawing, shapes, filling, braille brush, text, Perkins, layers, selection, import or image application, undo/redo and resizing; and, between inputs and outputs, open or save .pbraille, import braille text, copy braille and export to the formats supported by the editor.

We do not send the content of your work, including drawings, text or images, nor any files or filenames. Telemetry also does not include your email address or account, a persistent analytics identifier, visited URL, referrer, user agent, browser, operating system, language, time zone, or any field intended to link one session to another.

Automatic reports of JavaScript exceptions or unhandled promise rejections remain disabled for pilot participants; that channel is restricted to the internal test account.

The summary is validated against a strict predefined schema, immediately added to daily aggregate counters and then discarded. Aggregate data is retained only as long as necessary and for no more than 730 days; an automatic purge deletes older data. During the pilot, access to these aggregates is limited to the person responsible for PaintBraille through an authenticated private interface.

The pilot uses a first-party model: the editor does not use Google Analytics or an external analytics provider for this measurement.

The configuration has been limited after reviewing the rules applicable to terminal storage/access and audience measurement. When there is processing of personal data subsequent to that technical access, the legal basis of work is the legitimate interest in evaluating and improving the usefulness of the product, with the safeguards described here and the right to object where appropriate.

Support and security

If you contact us, we will process your email address and the information you provide in order to respond.

We may also process technical logs necessary to protect PaintBraille against abuses, errors or security incidents.

This data is kept for the time necessary to resolve the incident, protect the service or meet the responsibilities that may arise from it.

Newsletter

If you decide to subscribe to the newsletter, we will use your email to send you PaintBraille news.

Subscription is voluntary and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Companies and institutions

An organisation that provides or pays for your access to PaintBraille may handle administrative matters related to that access.

By default, it does not receive individual information about what functions you use, what work you do or how you use PaintBraille.

If we provide organisation-specific statistics in the future, they will be treated as a separate function and reported before enabling it.

We use service providers to deliver certain parts of the service. Depending on the features you use, these may currently include:

Pilot telemetry does not use an analytics provider. If we decide to add one in the future for product measurement, diagnostics or reliability, it will require a separate assessment and this policy will be updated before it is used.

Some providers of the above functions may carry out processing outside the European Economic Area under the corresponding legal guarantees.

Your rights

You can request access to your data, have it corrected, ask for it to be deleted, restrict certain processing or object to it where applicable.

In particular, you can object to processing based on legitimate interest for reasons related to your particular situation.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

Cookies and storage on your device

PaintBraille uses technical cookies necessary for functions such as maintaining your session and protecting forms.

The editor also uses local storage for preferences and work recovery.

Pilot telemetry does not create an analytical cookie or persistent identifier. If additional future technology requires consent, it will be requested before activating it.

The voluntary study

The voluntary study of PaintBraille has its own conditions.

The promise that during this study there is no automatic telemetry is kept for those who participate in it and is not modified by this general product policy.

Changes

PaintBraille will continue to evolve and this policy may be updated with the service.

If we make a significant change to the way we treat your data, we'll update this information and let you know when it's appropriate.

If a treatment needs your consent, continuing to use PaintBraille will not be considered a form of consent on its own.
